Another classic soap opera is getting a new life.
Love of Life, the CBS daytime drama that aired from 1951 to 1980, is being revived as a scripted audio drama, Daytime Confidential was first to report.
Created by Roy Winsor, the original series centered on sisters Vanessa and Meg Dale. Vanessa was originated by the late Peggy McCay, while Meg was played by Jean McBride and later Tudi Wiggins.
Casey S. Hutchison, creator and showrunner of the audio soap Haven Falls and host of The Chat podcast, is developing the revival. Erik Andrus, who collaborated with Hutchison on the Indie Series Award-winning Forever and a Day, will serve as co-head writer.
Adding an important connection to the original series, former Love of Life associate producer Paul Sladkus will serve as a consultant.
The new audio drama plans to honor the legacy of Love of Life while introducing new characters and stories. Production is scheduled to begin in March 2027.
For fans of classic daytime, it's another chance to hear the world of Love of Life come alive again—more than 45 years after the original series ended.
